My Fellow Nobles,

Q4 with Gratitude and Purpose

Another quarter has come and passed, and we’ve accomplished much in this short amount of time. The onion sales were good; the barbecue dinners were productive and there’s been a few rentals of the building. As you drive into the parking lot, you will see the steel stacked up out close to the barbecue area . That steel was acquired and donated by Noble Karl Covington and transported by Nobles Jared Milner, Jason Billings, Karl Covington and me. There have also been Nobles who volunteered to help erect and weld the steel to create a new pavilion over our barbecue pits, and I couldn’t be prouder of those who are willing to step up to the plate and assist.

Imperial Session was held in Atlanta Georgia this year, June 26th, through July 3rd, with your elected delegates in attendance. Imperial Sir Brad Kohen was elected as our new Imperial Potentate, and I’d like to congratulate him on his election. Imperial Sir Brad Kohen has served the last seven years as Imperial Treasurer and he brings a wealth of financial knowledge to the table. I have all the faith in the world in him to lead us forward for the ensuing year.

We had another barbecue fundraiser on August 22nd,that was a chicken plate lunch and as always was delicious. Habibi’s Cresent Cookers never let you down when it comes to good food. They are the backbone of our fundraising team.

Habibi‘s Luau Party was held August 16th, at 6 PM in the big building where Noble’s and their Ladies came dressed in their favorite Hawaiian themed clothing. It was a casual celebration, hosted by me and Lady Katie to show our appreciation for the labors that you put in to improve our organization. I chose not to have a Potentate’s Ball this year because it’s not about the

Leader, it’s about the team. We had a great time celebrating the most important part of our organization, you!!! Thank you for everything that you do for our cause. I appreciate the tremendous outpouring of help and support that you have offered me this year.

Our first annual Sporting Clay Shoot, headed up by Noble Preston Richard was held on September 20th in Lafayette and the Evangeline Shrine Club supplied the meal with a delicious Jambalaya and Corn Maque Choux. Thanks to all who helped put that together.

Our labors are far from over as we have our annual turkey sales for Thanksgiving so, please get with your folks who purchase every year and let them know that even though our pits are down, we still will have those delicious turkeys that they’ve come to love all the years. Oriental Guide Russell Bertrand was able to talk to the Knights of Columbus in his area, and they have graciously donated the use of their facilities to cook the turkeys. If you are in that area, and they are selling plate lunches, please support their cause because they support ours.

There will be a ceremonial this month so get your candidates out and let’s build new Nobles. Next month will be our Necrology service to honor those who have passed on this year so please make every effort to attend as we honor them.

December will be election of officers to fill the positions for next year and I look forward to working with them to assist with their endeavors as they lead us into the future and make us prosperous for years to come. Please support your elected officers and get on board to assist them in making Habibi the premier Shrine Center that we know it can be. This will be my last written address to you as your Potentate, and I want you all to know that it has been an honor and privilege to serve the Shrine and you. I will cherish the memories of it for a lifetime.

Thank you,
